SRT is a neuro-biological treatment approach focused on reducing excess activation in the autonomic nervous system that results from overwhelming experiences (trauma) throughout the lifespan. This autonomic dysregulation underlies most emotional and psychological problems such as anxiety and depression as well as chronic physical difficulties such as migraine headaches, insomnia, chronic fatigue, high blood pressure, chronic pain, and irritable bowel syndrome to name a few. Using psycho-physiological desensitization methods and cognitive strategies informed by the most current information regarding brain function and the laying down of new neural pathways, behavioral change and the relief of troubling symptoms is achieved through treatment in a relatively short period of time.
